Walking around in New York City, I’m reminded that not all great things come in pairs. In fact, there is nothing better than stopping into a pizza joint to grab a slice of cheese pizza en route to the next bar. There’s a freedom to it--to the walking around slice. Because you don’t always want that second piece, or even the whole pie. Sometimes one is all you need.
What else is better on the single side?

It seens to me single is best when your with someone ,is that were they get the saying The grass is always greeer on the othe side .Maybe thats just until you find the right one !
I think there is something very empowering to enjoy a drink by one self at a classy bar with no intention or desire to meet anyone. You quickly realize how you are not alone!

The other great part of NY is that yu can be as visible or invisible as you want. AND you can meet people anywhere... shopping, on the street, in the subway... It's like you're at a constant cocktail party... but only if you want to be. And, just like you never run out of reasons to drink, in NY you'll never run out of places to drink.

I agree! Some things are better alone! Pizza, a single martini (sometimes), or finding that last pair of jeans in your size. In fact, these things become better because there is just one of them.
It's best that I just have one life-size hurricane on Bourbon Street in the Big Easy. Find the sweet sounds of Shell-fest and get my groove on!
Not having to explain your guilty pleasures to anyone!
The one time I like being single, that is not having my sweetie around, is shopping! Especially in NYC. Or anywhere for that matter. No one to hover over me glassy eyed as I contemplate which color will go best with what and how many versions of the same outfit I actually need. No one to look frightened when I plunk down sixty bucks for a 2 oz jar of face lotion.
One night stands... you never want to go back for seconds.
Confession time, I married my one-night stand, so seconds and thirds are just as great. Unfortunately pizza and brownies and all things self-indulgent are better enjoyed alone.
One is NOT the loneliest number...when you're comfortable in your own skin, a ticket for one anywhere, a Broadway show or a single sleeper on an AmTrak to wine country, can be a self-affirming adventure.
You know what goes great with a walkin' around slice? A nice walkin' around flask : )

My bed is better when I'm single - I get sleep diagonally in my California king! When deciding what I want to eat for dinner is better when I'm single. Deciding which movie to see is better when I'm single...
